WARNING! By factory resetting your phone, all personal information stored on the device’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes contacts, media files, ringtones, downloaded content etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: Before master resetting your phone, you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can back up data, and this thread for a guide on restoring data.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Access the “Settings” menu
    3. If necessary, tap “Menu” and switch to “List view”
    4. Under “Personal”, tap “Backup & reset”
    5. Optionally, check the boxes associated with “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore”. Tap “Backup account” and sign in with or create a Google account
    6. Tap “Factory data reset”
    7. Optionally, you can choose to “Erase SD Card” too. WARNING! This will delete all the content on the SD card)
    8. Tap “Reset Phone” > “Next”
    9. Tap “Delete all” > “OK”

    Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: In case you are unable to reset your phone via Settings, alternatively you can try resetting the device from the Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses.

    1. If necessary, turn off the phone
    2. Press and hold “Power” and “Volume Down” at the same time
    3. At the “LG” logo, release and quickly re-hold the “Power” key
    4. When prompted with “Factory data reset”, press “Volume down” until you highlight “Yes”
    5. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    6. Use “Volume down” to highlight “Erase all user data and restore default settings”
    7. Press “Power”
    8. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes” and press “Power” to confirm
    9. Wait for the phone to reset and reboot

    Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: Once you factory reset your phone, it’s recommended to check for software updates. To do this:

    1. Open the apps drawer and go to “Settings”
    2. If necessary, tap “Menu” and switch to “List view”
    3. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
    4. If a new software version is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it (Restart might be required during the process)
