WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all your personal data located on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes downloaded content, contacts, apps, media files, ringtones etc. Additionally, all settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: Data stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected by the reset. However, you can learn how to back up data on the HTC 10 Lifestyle by visiting this thread. You can also visit this link for instructions on how to restore data.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Launch “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
    4. Enable or disable “Backup my data” and “Automatic restore”
    5. Tap “Reset phone”
    6. Assuming that your phone is protected by a lock screen option, enter it to proceed
    7. Tap “OK” at the “Warning” pop-up to confirm and reset your device

    Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: if your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it via Settings, you can, alternatively, try resetting the device from the Android System Recovery menu. The menu can be accessed by performing a specific combination of button presses:

    1. First, ensure the phone is turned off
    2. Next, press and hold “Volume Down”
    3. Press and hold “Power” until the phone vibrates
    4. At the “hTC download mode” screen, release “Volume down” too
    5. Navigate the menu by pressing “Volume down” repeatedly
    6. Highlight “reboot to bootloader”
    7. Press “Power” to select the option
    8. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Boot to Recovery Mode” and press “Power”
    9. Press “Volume down” to highlight “wipe data / factory reset” and press “Power”
    10. Highlight “Yes – delete all user data”
    11. Press “Power” again to confirm and reset the device
    12. Once the reset is complete, “Reboot system now should be highlighted”. Press “Power” to restart your phone

    Check for Software Updates:

NOTE: Once you factory reset your device, it’s recommended to verify if new software updates are available for download. To do this:

    1. Open the “Apps” drawer on the phone
    2. Access “Settings”
    3. Scroll down to and tap “About”
    4. Tap “Software information”
    5. Verify if a new update is available for download, and if applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply any available updates. (NOTE: this process will require a reboot)
