WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all personal data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes ringtones, media files, applications, contacts etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: Before your reset the phone, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to back up data, and this thread for instructions on restoring data. Remember that a factory reset will not affect data stored on the SD and SIM cards.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Access the “General” tab if necessary
    3. Tap “Backup & reset”
    4. Select or clear the check boxes associated with “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore”
    5. Tap “Backup account” and, if necessary, follow the on-screen steps to create a Google backup account
    6. Tap “Factory data reset”
    7. Review the warning message and choose whether or not to “Erase SD Card” too. WARNING! By enabling this option, all data on the SD card will be deleted by the factory reset
    8. Tap “Reset phone” > “Next”
    9. Tap “Delete all” > “OK”

    Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: In case you are unable to factory reset your phone via settings as detailed above, alternatively you can factory reset the device from the Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses as explained below.

    1. First, make sure the phone is powered off
    2. Press and hold “Volume Down” and “Power” at the same time
    3. At the “LG” logo, quickly release and re-hold “Power” (make sure “Volume Down” is being held pressed)
    4. Release the buttons when “Factory data reset” appears
    5. Press (and release) “Volume Down” to highlight “Yes”
    6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    7. At the “Erase all user data and restore default settings” prompt, press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes”
    8. Press “Power” to confirm

    Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: After a fresh factory reset, it’s recommended to check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Access the “General” tab
    3. Scroll to, and tap “About phone”
    4. Tap “Software info”
    5. Verify if a new update is available for download, and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the available update(s). NOTE: This process will require you to reboot your phone
