    Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Open the apps drawer
    2. Go to “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
    4. Tap “Menu” and turn on “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
    2. Tap “Display” and disable “Adaptive brightness” if necessary
    3. Tap “Brightness level”
    4. Drag the slider to the left to decrease luminosity
    5. Go back to “Display” and tap “Sleep”
    6. Select a lower timeout value such as “15 seconds”

Turn Off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:

NOTE: By turning off the phone’s connectivity features when they are unused, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” tiles to turn these features OFF
    3. For more Location (GPS) settings, go to “Settings” and tap “Location”
    4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
    5. To disable Hotspot, go back to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
    6. Turn off “Tethering & Mobile Hotspot”

    Use 2G Connectivity:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More”
    3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
    4. Enable “2G”

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Third party apps can perform regular background processes and thus they can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Go to “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
    3. Go to “Downloaded” and select the desired app
    4. Tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to turn the app OFF
    5. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to remove the app from the phone

    Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your accounts / apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Personal”
    3. Tap “Accounts” and select an account type
    4. Select an account and clear the check boxes next to the sync options you want to disable

    Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if updates are available:

    1. Go to “Settings”
    2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates”
    4. Check if a new update is available
    5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply updates. NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot
