WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all data located on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes media files, apps, ringtones, downloaded content, contacts etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values. Data stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected by the reset.

NOTE: For a guide on how to back up data, visit this thread. For instructions on how to restore data, check this thread.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Access the “General” tab if necessary
    3. Tap “Backup & reset” and enable or disable “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore”
    4. Tap “Backup account” and select or create a Google backup account
    5. Press “Factory data reset”
    6. Optionally, choose whether to “Erase SD Card” at the prompt
    7. When ready, tap “Reset phone” > “Next”
    8. Tap “Delete all” > “OK” to confirm

    Factory Reset via Hardware Buttons:

NOTE: In case you are unable to reset the device from the Settings menu, alternatively you can reset the phone using hardware buttons. To do this:

    1. First, turn the phone Off if necessary
    2. Next, press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” simultaneously
    3. At the “LG” logo, quickly release and re-hold “Power”
    4. At the “Factory data reset” screen, release both buttons
    5. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes” and press “Power” to confirm
    6. When prompted to “Erase all user data and restore default settings”, use “Volume down” to highlight “Yes”
    7. Press “Power” to confirm

    Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: It’s recommended to check if new OS updates are available after a factory reset.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Go to the “General” tab
    3. Tap “About phone” > “Software info”
    4. Verify if an update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update. NOTE: The process will require at least one reboot
