    Enable Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Go to “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
    4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By turning off the phone’s connectivity options including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot when not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” tiles to disable these features
    3. For additional GPS options, open “Settings” and go to “Location”
    4. Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
    5. For Hotspot options, go back to “Settings”
    6. Then, tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the option

    Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: if your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    3. Access “Mobile Networks” > “Preferred network type”
    4. Select “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down
    2. Drag the “Brightness” slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
    3. Return to “Settings”
    4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
    5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
    6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can technically affect battery life even when not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
    3. Make sure “All Apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
    4. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” to turn the app Off
    5. Alternatively, tap “Uninstall” to remove the app from the device

NOTE: another way to uninstall an app is to drag its shortcut over the “Uninstall” section on the home screen (visible only when dragging an app shortcut)

Change Sync Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your apps / accounts, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Go to “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Personal”
    3. Tap “Accounts” and select the desired account
    4. Enable or disable the available sync options to reduce sync

Keep the Software Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life. As such, it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
    3. Tap “System update” and verify if a new update is available
    4. If applicable, follow the on-screen instructions to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
