    4. Scroll to “Device”
    5. Tap “Display” and enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
    6. Tap “Sleep” for timeout options and select a lower value

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use – including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot – to improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
    2. Tap the “Location”, “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
    3. Launch “Settings”
    4. Tap “Location” > “Mode”
    5. Enable “Battery saving”
    6. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
    7. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and set the feature OFF

    Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    3. Tap “Mobile networks”
    4. Go to “Preferred network type”
    5. Enable “2G”

    Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Personal”
    3. Tap “Accounts”
    4. Select the desired account
    5. Change the account’s sync settings to reduce sync

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. Thus by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Tap “Apps” under “Device”
    3. Select “All apps” in the drop-down menu at the top
    4. Tap the desired application
    5. To turn the app off, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
    6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS updated. To check if new updates are available:

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Go to “About phone”
    3. Access “System updates”
    4. Check if new updates are available
    5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
