WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all your personal information stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted, including media files and contacts, ringtones, applications etc. Additionally, all settings will be restored to factory values, however data located on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected.

NOTE: You can check this thread for instructions on how to back up data before resetting the phone, and this thread for a guide on restoring data.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Open “Settings
    2. If necessary, switch to “Tab view
    3. From the “General” tab, scroll lto “Phone Management
    4. Tap “Backup & reset” and tick or clear the check boxes associated with “Automatic restore” and “Back up my data
    5. Tap “Backup account
    6. Select the account you want to use for backing up your data
    7. When ready, tap “Factory data reset
    8. Choose whether to “Erase SD Card” too
    9. Tap “Reset phone” when ready
    10. If necessary, enter the lock screen password / PIN to proceed
    11. Tap “Delete all” > “Reset

    Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it using the method above, alternatively you can reset the device from the Android Recovery menu which can be accessed by performing the following.

    1. First turn the phone off
    2. Then, press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
    3. At the LG logo, quickly release and re-hold “Power
    4. At the “Factory data reset” screen, release all the buttons
    5. Press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight “Yes
    6. Press “Power” to confirm
    7. At the “Erase all user data and restore default settings” prompt, highlight “Yes” and press “Power” to confirm
