    4. Then access “Display”
    5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
    6. For timeout duration tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features OFF when not actively in use – such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS –in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
    2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features off
    3. For additional options go to “Settings”
    4. Access “Location” for GPS settings and tap “Mode”
    5. Select “Battery saving”
    6. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless 7 Networks”
    7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the feature OFF

    Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve the battery until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    3. Go to “Mobile networks”
    4. Tap “Preferred network type”
    5. Enable “2G”

    Reduce Sync:

NOTE: you can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and thus improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Personal” and go to “Accounts”
    3. Select an account type
    4. Tap the desired account
    5. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes and this can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the phone, you may improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device”
    3. Go to “Apps”
    4. Ensure “All apps” is selected from the drop-down menu at the top
    5. Select the desired application
    6. To turn the app off, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
    7. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Up to Date:

NOTE: OS updates include battery life improvements and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates”
    4. Check if a new update is available for download
    5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to install the update (NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot)
