Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
    2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
    3. Open “Settings” for more options
    4. Go to “Display” and optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
    5. Tap “Sleep” for timeout options and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

    Enable Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device”
    3. Tap “Battery”
    4. Press “Menu”
    5. Enable “Battery saver”

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use – including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot and GPS, you can avoid unnecessary network scans and conserve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
    2. Tap “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable these features
    3. Open “Settings”
    4. Scroll to and access “Location” > “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
    5. Return to “Settings”
    6. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

    Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    3. Tap “Mobile networks”
    4. Access “Preferred network type”
    5. Enable “2G”

    Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Under “Device” tap “Apps”
    3. Ensure “All apps” is checked in the drop-down menu at the top
    4. Select the desired application
    5. Tap “Force Stop” / “Disable” to turn the app OFF
    6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

    Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can decrease the amount of data synced by your accounts/apps to improve battery life in the long run. To do this:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Go to “Accounts”
    3. Select an account type
    4. Select the desired account and change the available sync settings as desired

    Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:

    1. Launch “Settings”
    2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates”
    4. Check if a new update is available for download
    5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot)
