    Enable Battery Saving Mode:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device”
    3. Tap “Battery”
    4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

    1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
    2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
    3. Open “Settings” for more options
    4. Scroll to and tap “Display”
    5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
    6. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value such as “15 seconds”

    Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use – such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and Location (GPS) – to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
    2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Wi-Fi” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
    3. Next go to “Settings”
    4. Access “Location” for GPS options, tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
    5. For other options return to “Settings”
    6. Next tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    7. Disable “Tethering & portable hotspot”

    Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks. To do this:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
    3. Go to “Mobile networks”
    4. Access “Preferred network type”
    5. Enable “2G”

    Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by changing your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to and access “Accounts”
    3. Select an account type and the desired account
    4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

    Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. As such, by disabling or uninstalling unused third-party apps from the phone, you may improve battery life in the long run.

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Scroll to “Device”
    3. Go to “Apps”
    4. Ensure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
    5. Select the desired app
    6. To turn the app off, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
    7. To remove the app entirely, tap “Uninstall”

    Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Go to “About phone”
    3. Tap “System updates”
    4. Check if a new update is available
    5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
