    WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all your personal data on the phone will be deleted, including contacts, media files, downloaded content, apps etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values, but data located on the SIM and SD cards won’t be affected

    NOTE: Before your reset the phone you can check this thread for a guide on backing up data on the phone, and this thread for instructions on restoring data.

    Factory Reset via Settings:

    1. Open “Settings”
    2. Access “Personal”
    3. Ta “Backup and reset”
    4. Optionally, enable or disable “Back up my data” and “Restore”
    5. Tap “Factory data reset” > “Reset device”
    6. If your device is lock-screen protected, enter your password/PIN and tap “Continue”
    7. When ready, tap “Delete all” > “Reset device”

    Factory Reset via Android Recovery:

    NOTE: If your device crashes, freezes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it using the method above, you can try and reset the phone from the Recovery menu which can be accessed as follows:

    1. Turn the phone off
    2. Press and hold “Home” “Power” and “Volume Up” at the same time
    3. At the Samsung log, release “Power”
    4. At the Android screen, release the other buttons
    5. Once in Recovery, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate the menu, until you highlight “Wipe data/factory reset”
    6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
    7. Highlight “Yes – delete all user data” and press “Power” again to confirm

    Check for OS Updates:

    NOTE: After you reset the phone it’s recommended to check if new updates are available for download.

    1. Open “Settings” and scroll to “About device”
    2. Go to the software section and check if new OS updates are available for download
    3. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update
