What Windoz version are you using?

You can boot your system with a dos boot-disk or safemode (with dos prompt) -
    locate the file and type
    del c:\~foldername\index.dat

This sounds like the exact problem I had - AdAware took care of it - but you have to make sure under AwAware configuration that you set it to automatically remove files in use after reboot (under the additional options tab)
Run AdAware then reboot - if it's still there just kill it in DOS

restart in fail-safe mode and delete them, press F8 at start up and select failsafe mode from the menu

hello to all that have been helping me with the home page horror.
I have down loaded clean up and that pointed out that it would not delete the index. dat files. I am quite certain that this is the problem. There is another 2 windows that pop up when home page connects. I have a pop up stopper program, it doesn't stop those though.
I am going to try adaware from lavasoft and see how that goes.

The other way I believe to delete these files is through dos. I'm not much of a dos person really, but I can type...lol. So if there is some where that I can go on the net to copy the instruction.....I can type....lol

    Thanks again
    Buzzard
