its depends. if a judge decides the winner in like the x-games then no its not a sport, because its based on opinion. if they are racing or playing "skate" then yes it is.

That's it! My bad... I musta' kept falling asleep when that part came up... or most likely turned the channel! A few years ago there was this absurd commercial that came out and these housewives were having an "underground" illegal vacuum cleaner race! ... that "sport" just seems as ridiculous to me as that commercial did.

Yeah... haven't you seen it in the winter olympics?
It's along the lines of *ahem* mopping and Hoovering.

Sure! Why not... everything else is!

It's certainly much more of a sport than synchronised swimming or ... sweeping!

if it takes skill, is competetive, and requires talent, then it should be a sport, and skateboarding is all of the above

i think it should because it takes talent to skate well sometimes.

    Mattitude!
Well if table tennis is an OLYMPIC sport, skateboarding is, at the very least, a sport.

Yeah, i think it should, coz it gathers the same attention as most others like Soccer and dat! And its a physical excersise etc. so yeah!

After reading what Webster's dictionary thinks a sport is, perhaps people will be able to answer this poll more educatedly and accurately.

    Main Entry: sport
    Function: noun
    1 a : a source of diversion : RECREATION
c (1) : physical activity engaged in for pleasure (2) : a particular activity (such as a game) so engaged in

that said, I think it should be considered a sport. although without that def. I thought it should anyway. it gets your heart pumping, there's competition, and a risk of injury. that meets my guidelines for a sport without dictionary help.

Why not, skateboarders take time out to get good at there hobby/sport, and also skateboarding is becoming popular these days why not make it a sport
