My question is this. I have a UK nokia 6230 and I travel to the bahamas on business a lot.

When I travel to the bahamas, caller ID does not work as it should. I have to input the number as +242 for it to work, however the correct code is actually +1242. This means that I have effectively had to save two numbers into my phone for caller ID to recognise the number (and the second number to actually dial it) because on the bahamian cell network, if you dial +242 it will not recognise the number (but caller ID will!!! - go figure).

My question is, as I have a UK phone, is it possible that cell phones are preset by country, i.e. the bahamian system knows that I have a UK phone....

Long shot but wondering if anyone knew why it was behaving like this??
