Ok soopy. First thing, tavenger said to get bitpim, so he did answer your question. bitpim is a program just like Data Pilot only a lot better. It is free to download off the internet, and like he mentioned, the latest version does indeed support your phone.

As for the XP problems with your computer. I would suggest updating all your software and hardware dll's before trying to load XP onto your old machine. There may be a few issues even after you've updated everything, but XP is a much more stable, faster and secure platform than 98 ever was, and yes, it makes a big difference what platform you are running as all the new programs being written are written specifically for the XP platform as that's what the majority are running.

If we don't get it right the first time, or there is confusion on either side, we will straighten it out and get you the answer your looking for - if we can. well, first of all, I don't like xp...I had nothing but problems with computer crashing and viruses....second...your reply was of no help to me. I can't find, or get the modem driver for my phone...whether or not i'm running xp or 98 shouldn't make that much difference....so do you have ANY idea where I can go to download the driver I need for my phone? Let me know if you do

First, upgrade to win xp. Why on earth would you even try to use 98? After you get win xp you should be able to find the correct drivers.

Second, try using bitpm. I believe the latest version has support for the 8100.

I recently purchased my vx8100, and bought the data cable off ebay....I can't get Data pilot to recognize my phone, and when I hook the phone up to the cable, the computer wants to add new hardware...LG CMDA USB modem..I try to intall it but I don't seem to have any drivers for it. I have gone to a lot of sites to download drivers, but none of them seem to work...I'm using win 98 se. can you help pleeeese....I'm at my wits end. thanks
