Sorry for all the trouble. I got a tmobile phone eventually, and its working great so far. It actually cost $65 total for what I needed, and I still have minutes left over from the trip I took. Thanks for trying to help!

    I got a $40 phone
    included 60 minutes
    $25 card ((130minutes))

    ==190 minutes total, $65

I ended up texting about twice a day, which turned out great, especially when recieving texts is free. I splurged a bit and bought 5 ringtones, which costed me 7 minutes each!!! lol. Thanks again everyone.

unless you absolutely must be accessible at all times, i'd suggest just getting a calling card for long distance.

i'm still puzzled by your situation.

That probably doesn't make sense, but believe me, I'd rather just use a prepaid cell so I don't cause my granparents "grief".

I would probably make about 5 short (5-15 min) calls per day, and if I only use it on the trip, I'll absolutely need it for about 7 days. I want to be able to text, use the web, etc also.
Anyways, a flip phone would be really nice, along with the other info I mentioned. I will need to purchase a phone, and everything I need
I understand how high my expectations were now, I didn't know that much about cells when I posted that. Sorry! I don't need web and pics. text messaging would be nice, but thats not a need, especially when its about 25 cents each... okay, heres my NEEDS versus WANTS list fyi....

    Need VS Want
    phone - flip phone
    80 min - 100+ min
    to call - text messaging

I've been looking around at prepaid phones, and I'm really unsure about which company to go with now! I definately do NOT want cingular, because of the $1/day fee. Virgin has a $20 phone, and then I could just buy $30 worth of minutes, although I'm not positive how many minutes that would be. (AND virgin has 3 different plans for their phone, and I don't know what plan would be the best!!!) T-mobile has a $50-60 phone that comes with 40 or so minutes, so I would have to purchase more anyways. THEN there are the other companys..... This is getting a little frustraiting, because I've spent so much time looking at rates, phones, fees, and everything is starting to look the same...

Nic Hitchins is absolutely correct. You don't need most of the features and if you do, you probolly will get a big chunky bill for all of those features. Borrow a phone and turst me, it doesn't have to be a flip...Thats called a "Fashion Assessory"

    i'm confused.

you 'need' all of these features for 7 days? you'll burn up 175-525 minutes in 7 days, and need to use internet, email, and text. what possibly do you have going on that you need to be so 'connected'? it's probably none of my business, but it sounds more like a 'want' list as opposed to 'needs.'

at first, i would have suggested borrowing a cell, but i'm sure by the sounds of it that you'd run that bill up pretty high.

maybe you should just get a prepaid long distance card, and use the library for the internet.

plus, a $50 spending limit? you'll rack up that in just call time, let alone the web and text messages.

I will be near Oklahoma City OK fyi.

I think I'm going to activate it with that zipcode//area, that way I won't have to pay for roaming also.

A friend of mine said they liked "simple freedom", so I thin I'll check that out.... since most company's plans are similar, I think I'm just looking for a cheap, nice prepaid phone.... and I'll go with the company who has the best one.

    ---NOTE---
Edit: I know this is in the wrong section, i can't change it.
If you are wanting to know what the problem is, read my latest post, because it has different info/specs. Thanks so much for your help.
    ---

I've never had a cell phone before ((I'm 14 yrs old)) and I need one for New Years because I am going on a trip to Oklahoma. My parents don't want to have to sign a contract for a phone, so a pre-paid cell phone sounded great.

I would probably make about 5 short (5-15 min) calls per day, and if I only use it on the trip, I'll absolutely need it for about 7 days. I want to be able to text, use the web, etc also. I saw on T-moble that they have a "sidekick" pricing of $1/day for unlimited email, web browsing, instant messaging and text messaging and $.15 / minute for calls...I think this means I'd pay about $33.25+???

Anyways, a flip phone would be really nice, along with the other info I mentioned. BUT, I don't understand how the t-mobile sidekick thing works ((how do they know you want those features?!)) and if that would be the best deal. I will need to purchase a phone, and everything I need, and I'm not sure how much the roaming fees would be since I would be in Oklahoma... and long distance fees for calling home.

PLUS, my parents would like the phone and everything to be less than $50, which I'm not sure is possable...???

I hope everything I said made sense and someone could help me figure out if t-mobile has the best, cheapest pre-paid cell phone deal... and if not, what company does?
