I just switched from a blackberry to the i830, and a few things I've already found out (most messages for me are inbound not out, hence the reason for the switch).

    1) Cover on bottom of phone for the charger/data port is junk. It never fits properly and is just a pain in the arse. Might just rip it off and be done with it...
    2) Contact Name length is still way too short.
    3) Home battery charger was designed by the director of the Matrix; fugly and frumpy...
    4) No headset/earpiece
    5) GPS will refresh once in a million years if ever (not that I really use it) only if you aim it at the satellite.
    6) When you unclip the phone from the beltclip, it almost always wants to try and release the rear phoner cover; the cover release buttin is exactly where you need to unclip the phone. Did they ever use the belt clip when they designed this phone???
    7) Keypad is hit or miss at times; sometimes do to speed of the phone actualy doing something and others because the key didn't function (press harder???)
    8) Looks like I got a bad pixel in the center of the screen...

Other than that, I can make and receive calls.

    Add another *****...

Battery life is the worst of any phone I've ever had. One day tops and only if you blab very little. The color screen must just kill it... I know you can set the backlite off but, try using the damn thing in the dark.. Ain't gonna happen... Come on Motorola, Nokia and SE are kicking your arse...

    1) that cover is to keep dust and other stuff from getting in there and causing "incompatible charger" problems. there is a small flap that isn't supposed to fit in there so you can open it easier.
    2) are you arab or something? how long of a name do you need to type?
    3) home battery charger is only a little bigger than the old ones and lets you roll up the cord into it so you dont have a long cord lying around.
    4) good point.
    5) how often do you really need it?
    6) you must have sasquatch fingers cause that is not really a problem unless you close your eyes and fumble at it like a virgin on prom night.
    7) the keypad is different than any other phone, takes getting used to. i'll give you that one.
    8) bad pixels happen, return it for another.

I know what it's for. The design is still absolutely crap. I don't think it really needs the stupid thing so, *IF* I keep the phone I'll rip it off.

    2) are you arab or something?... Might be, might not. Is beind able to put a first and last name asking too much or are everyone's entries "bimbo A, bimbo B", etc? 8=0

    3) home battery charger is only a little bigger... Still fugly. Like I reel up the cord everytime I take it somewhere. I wad it up and throw it in the suitcase...

    6) you must have sasquatch fingers... I actually have small fingers and can type like a mad man on the blackberry or Treo 600. Both have much better tactile feel. I just fumble till it works on the i830... but it could be a little better. Also, I happen to like virgins. I just find that I can never eat enough of them.

    8) bad pixels happen, return it for another. Already did because of the battery life. The Nexturd guy said it was cuz I used the backlite too much. Hmm wonder how I'm supposed to use the phone in the dark? Maybe the next version will come with a Maglite.

Oh well, It will be for sale on ebay in a week or two. and I'll move on to something else. I never keep cell phones more than a month or two anyway.

rip the dust cover off. If it gets dusty in 6 months stop in radio shack and pickup a contact cleaner pen. Catalog #: 64-4341, Model: 64-4341. Works very well and it is under $6. Save this print it out or something because Radio shack guys wont know what I am talking about. They'll say what are contacts?

Wow! from a blackberry to an i830? What do you do with your extra time now? Do you find your self wanting to click and scroll click and scroll click and scroll to make one call? Nah just kidding If you are a big contact user you can always use address book. It is an extra monthly fee works throught the net side of the phone but links up with your outlook at home and you can store away on it.
