hey all..i jus found this website and it looked like most people got the help with the questions they had, so i figured i would try it out. i own a nextel i730, and as im sure you know, their ringtones can only be downloaded from their site, and their far from what i would expect from such an expensive phone. i have heard from a couple different people that if a buy a data cable, i can be able to rip and then download songs to cell phones for my ringtones. if any body has any help on what kind of websites i can go to to dowload some programs and then put them on my phone i would be very appreciative. i have also heard that i can do the same with the wallpapers and palettes. if ANYBODY has some information, please let me know!

First thing's first. How to rip your ringtones from the song. I use NERO to burn CD's and it has a file editing program. I select 30 seconds from a song (I called NEXTEL and got my ringtime extended to 30 secs just so I could put more of the song on there ). If you don't have NERO I'm sure you can find some kind of music editing tool. When you save the file you'll need to save it as a WAV file in the following format:
    - Frequency: 8000
    - Bits: 8
    - Channels: Mono
Secondly, you'll need a data cable. USB helps for quicker transfers, but if you have XP stay away from USB, heard about too many complications; go with serial. You can usually find these pretty cheap on eBay or pay an arm & leg from NEXTEL. Last you'll need a program to transfer to the phone. I used myJAL. You can download it at: http://members.cox.net/myteam/ . The program is free to use for 10 days or so and then you have to register for $10. With this program you can upload Ringtones, Wallpapers, and Java Apps (Games and such). To change pallates you have to use an RSS program which I'm still getting the hang of. It's well worth it. Hope this helps. If you need anymore info just post a reply and I'll get back to you.

can a regular USB cable work with webjal? I have a boost i730 and windows 2000 on my sister's computer. Is it possible to screw up the phone with webjal if something goes wrong? where do I download the usb drivers from?

You can still open the flip w/o using the springloaded button. But it's just so damn cool to hit the button and have your flip open.

rosa, i bought my USB cable and software off ebay. i know that it had at one point given me some problems. like my phone would freeze up and then shut off..and i would never know unless i looked at the time b/c the time would be on the face what it stopped on. but i bought a new battery from best buy for like 25 and it has worked amazingly since..and the battery has more capicity..so it's a win win situation. and the driver i got was on the CD that i bought..maybe u should look into purchasing one off ebay. comes with 1000's of ringtones and wallpapers and games already on the cd, plus all the software u will need. any other questions you have, feel free to ask and ill help u as best as i can b/c i know i needed help when i was getting used to it. if you have AIM and need help, my sn is bigdirtychevy.

Those CD's are a waste of money. If you look around on enough Nextel sites you can find all the games you could ever want and making ringtones and wallpapers is easy enough. Those people on eBay are just making money off other people's work.
