I was told it was an ongoing problem? Im just trying to figure out whether it was bull**** or not? Does anyone else with 860 get an error everytime they try to sent a text message ( "Message Could Not Be Sent!")???? They refunded me for my messaging service but I still want to be able to use it. They had no idea when the problem would be solved. Anyone kno anything about this???

I think the problem you might be having is the same one I am having....If I go to mesg tab on the phone and then go to outbox and try to create a new message from there my messages dont go out, in order to send a txt message i have to go into menu then net then text messaging. Text message do send out from there but I think its dumb that i have to go through the net thing and I cant do it from the normal message menu screen. hope this help

Im not sure about you guys but when i go to Menu>Nenu>Text Messaging I get a message " Nextel Messaging just got easier! To create or access your messages, just go directly to the Message Center on your handset." Only option is to say okay and it will go back to the net. Only way i can send messages is through the message center and it will not send messages from there. ?????????????

Think you all may have messed up the linking in your phones. Try a Master Reset. The Message Center is supposed to redirect you to Menu>Text Messaging. The Message Center and Text Messaging are separate functions and do not tie into one another. The Message Center just informs you of how many Net Alerts your phone intercepts. If you wish to send a message, it redirects you to Menu>Text Messaging. You all use WebJal or MyJal? That could be the source... bad code.

have done a master reset probly about 30 times each time i call nextel up. I had the problem immediatly when i bought the phone before I even linked it up to webjal myjal or anything else. The first time i linked it to my comp was about a week ago to mdjal with no problems. I have been having the messaging problem for about 2 months or more. Wait is there anyone out there with the 860 that can send text messages??????
KE4QF by "Menu>Text Messaging" did you mean Menu>Net>Text Messaging ... obviously thats what you meant but when i do that I get a thing that tells me that nextel messaging just got easier and to go directly to message center. I dont see the problem with using message center to send messages????

may have some help
i have a stinking i860. i purchased an unlocked boost. stating that all i had to do was put my nextel sim in. it worked under the old text messaging for about 5 mos. then i got a message like you saying it got easier. received texts but couldnt reply nor create them. message cant be sent. after many hours on hold and stuff got to level 3 tech. they said the software in the boost was not compatible. the system allowed me to go for a while but the system is attempting to detect the boost phones. she told me i had to buy a nextel phone or switch to boost. have not found a solution yet. may just suck it up and extend a f***ng contract to get an i870
did u find out anything more than that?

I have the i860 and I've never had problems with text messaging. I live in central Pennsylvania and I'm in a Nextel Partners region. Don't know if that makes any difference.

mello,
they are telling me the software in the boost phone is not compatible with the nextel network. when i ask how it worked for so long they said the system had not caught me yet?
i asked if i could get the software upgraded, but she just kept saying that i had to get a nextel phone.
