hello everyone, I am new here and new to nextel. can you guys give the ups and downs to having nextel. I have the i836 and I am like 5 minutes from Philly and I get the crapiest signal. I like the DC though, it comes in handy at work.

Welcome to South Jersey the armpit of Nextel!!! The i836 is a nice phone. Main drawback is it is small and has zero clearance between the housing and the boards inside. Because of this, people have a tendancy to crush the boards real easy. 75% that I see are damaged.

Here is a few off the top!
    UPS:
2-way (with out it there would be no Nextel)
    free incoming plans
    cool line of phones
    repair service plan
    nights can start at 6
    corp and gov discounts
Software to load your own ringtones and wallpapers

    downs:
BAD BAD service in south jersey
seems like you pay about 20% extra in fees and taxes every month
    phone pricing a little high
    poor in building coverage
bad coverage while roaming of of major highways nationally
    not really international friendly
Charge for voicemail and caller id on some plans
    Detailed billing is extra
text messaging from website doesn't require a return address(you don't know who sent it)
Pay for text messages in or out
