I'm getting a new nextel and plan (fresh account)
I never had a nextel before I always had a regular GSM phone.
Which nextel should i get? Boost or a nextel i dont know the difference.
Which phone is good to get? I want a good phone, is the I930 the latest one? and are there any other ones coming out soon?
Also is there and unlimited chirp with a good amount of minutes on it (plan).
Thanks so much for you help!

Re: i want a new nextel and plan
Boost is the prepaid version of Nextel, no contract or anything but it's a bit more expensive.
IMO the i870 is a really nice phone with good features. Check it out here: Motorola i870 / i875 Specs & Features (Phone Scoop)
The Free Incoming Rate plans look like this:
$39.99/mo. - 300 outgoing min. Unl. N&W's, Unl. Walkie-Talkie
$59.99/mo. - 500 outgoing min. Unl. N&W's, Unl. Walkie-Talkie
$79.99/mo. - 800 outgoing min. Unl. N&W's, Unl. Walkie-Talkie
$99.99/mo. - 1000 outgoing min. Unl. N&W's, Unl. Walkie-Talkie

I would reccomend nextel if you want a plan. You can have your phone actually fixed if you break it, and i think a monthly plan is just easier than going out and buying prepaid cards from a local 7-11

Re: i want a new nextel and plan
I highly recommend one of the Free Incoming Plans, they have the best value overall! You get plenty of minutes with any plan because of all the incoming calls are free, unlimited walkie-talkie, unlimited Nights and Weekends, and Voice Mail and Caller ID are included! They charge you $1 a month for each of those on any other plan I believe. Plus you get Nationwide calling and no roaming included, so the entire country is your calling area!!
As far as phones go, I can't speak from experience since I have older phones (i860 and i830) but the phones I think that are pretty good right now are: i850, i870, i920 or i930 (camera or no camera), i836, i760. They seem to be the good mid and high range phones as far as price and "cool" factor.
Now if price is important and you don't want to spend much, then I would say go with any of these: i265, i275, or i670.Plan: Power Pack 450

Re: i want a new nextel and plan
phone wise 730/760 is a very popular phone, If you want a little bit better then I would go with a 870, I wasnt too impressed with the i850. Or if you want all out and windows then i930. Or if you just want a phone I wouldn't go any lower than the i710.

Re: i want a new nextel and plan
Check out the i580 before you buy, it's the best of both worlds. Durable, almost completely encased in rubber...but with a camera, MP3, bluetooth; you name it. Also passes the 810F military spec. for just about all the elements. It just came out less than a month or so ago...

Re: i want a new nextel and plan
Boost is becoming too expensive for the prepaid market and their customers are literally "clogging up" the network. Their rates need to be lowered but it would only attract more customers and create bigger headaches. Nextel is a little on the expensive side unless you are covered under a SERO plan/contract.
Although iDEN is still useful, an alternative needs to be found or a fix. In my case, "The New iDEN" would be a new technology using WiMAX for data services on phone and broadband computer connections along with a very enhanced and detailed version of VoIP launched upon WiMAX with ESMR, GPS, and other perfected technologies used by iDEN.
I like Nextel's sturdy and well built handsets by Motorola. The i580 and i870 are so called "masterpieces" in my opinion. Just ask the other users of those phones and they will likely agree.
Going back to your question, what is your monthly usage? To my knowledge, there is a SERO plan with 500 minutes and unlimited texting/data/DC, Chirp, Walkie-Talkie, or Two-way for $30.00 a month. Ask a Sprint or Nextel employee for referal information and the website and you will be good to go for that. Great deal! Phones are discounted, too.

Re: i want a new nextel and plan
THe i580 is the newest phone, and I really like it. Its a little wider, but in my opinion not as thick. Its as close to water resistant as you can get. Its heavy duty, will take a good fall, and also has a camera.
If you want high tech, the i930 is the way to go. The camera quality is really good if you same the pictures to a memory card and put it into your computer.
For plans, Free Incoming is the best.

Re: i want a new nextel and plan
I get toc hange out my phone often, so I can stay on top of things. I was using the i580 for a little while, went back to my 605, which while its a little bigger, and a candy bar style phone, I love the bigger screen....hoping for an update soon. before the 580 i used an 836, which I do not like at all! I hate the slim line battery! I have also carried the 730, 560 and 920 (in my market only retail can sell the 930, so indirect got the i920, which doesn't have the camera) I am on the phone all day contacting dealers and doing business. I also always carry my 7100i, which is love! I have short fingers, so I keep my nails long, and the buttons on the 7520 blackberry are too small, so I am happier with the newer blackberry.

How would you rate the 580 overall? That's the one I've had my eye on since I first saw it on the Nextel website when it first came out.
