need help with lost/reconnect nextel

Hello all !! i hope someone can help me. About a year ago I bought a used nextel i870 at a swap meep for 150.00 it has worked great all I did was put my sim card into the phone from the old brick nextel my boss gave us & started using it. Well about 4 weeks ago my boss decided to cancel using nextel & make us use our own cell phones so i decided to sell the nextel. well the person who bought it from me found his sim card did'nt fit so he had to buy one that did. Well he found out it the nextel had been reported lost or stolen & they would'nt connect a sim to it but they did let him keep it so i assume it was reported lost not stolen if he got a sim that would fit would it still work like it did for me if not is there a way to unlock it so it will work for him? thanks in advance for any & all help

no, and how did his sim not fit?
IMEI is blocked until the phone is sent to motorola then they clear the IMEI of the list
