Data Back Up

Backing Up Settings:

  1. While viewing the Start screen, swipe to the left
  2. Scroll to and tap "Settings"
  3. Tap "Backup"
  4. Tap "app list + settings"
  5. Set the "Settings backup" switch to "On"
  6. If necessary, sign in with your Microsoft account
  7. Tap "Back up now" > "Continue"
  8. The backup process will commence. Keep in mind that it might take several minutes to complete

Backing Up Applications:

  1. Slide left while on the Start screen
  2. Scroll to and tap "Settings" > "Backup"
  3. Tap "App list + settings"
  4. Tap the "App backup" switch and set it to "On"
  5. Sign in to your Microsoft account, if necessary
  6. Tap "Back up now" > "Continue"
  7. The backup process will begin and may take several minutes to complete

Backing Up Text Messages:

  1. From the Start screen, slide the screen to the left
  2. Swipe to and tap "Settings"
  3. Tap "Backup"
  4. Tap "text messages"
  5. Tap the "Text message backup" switch and set it to "On"

Backing Up Photos and Videos:

  1. While on the Start screen swipe left
  2. Go to "Settings" > "Backup"
  3. Tap "photos + videos"
  4. Make the desired selections in order to automatically upload photos and videos to OneDrive:
  5. Photos:
    • Don't upload
    • Good quality (may use data plan)
    • Best quality (needs Wi-Fi)
  6. Videos:
    • Don't upload
    • Best quality (needs Wi-Fi)

Restoring Data

Restoring Apps, Data and Settings:

  1. Restart your smartphone once the data has been backed up
  2. Connect to a Wi-Fi network
  3. Follow the setup prompts
  4. At the "Restore phone" screen, ensure that "Windows Phone" is selected
  5. Tap "Next"
  6. Wait for your phone to be restored. Keep in mind that this process may take several minutes to complete
  7. When the process is done (the progress bar should show "Complete 100%"), tap "next"
  8. At the "Almost done…" screen, tap "next"
  9. Optionally, mark the "Nokia Improvement Program" check box and tap "next"
  10. Your smartphone data should now be successfully restored
