Back Up Settings:

  1. Slide the Start screen left
  2. Tap “Settings” > “backup
  3. Tap “app list + settings
  4. Enable the “Settings backup” switch
  5. Sign in to your Microsoft account if necessary
  6. Tap “Back up now” > “continue” (NOTE: The backup process may take several minutes to complete, depending on the amount of data)

Back Up Applications:

  1. Wipe the Start screen left
  2. Scroll to and tap “Settings
  3. Tap “backup” > “app list + settings
  4. Tap the switch associated with “App backup” to enable the feature
  5. Sign in to your Microsoft account if necessary
  6. Tap “back up now” > “continue

Back Up Text Messages:

  1. Swipe the Start screen left and go to “Settings
  2. Tap “backup
  3. Tap “text messages
  4. Tap the “Text message backup” switch to enable the feature

Back Up Photos & Videos:

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Swipe to and tap “backup
  3. Tap “photos + videos
  4. Choose to automatically upload media files to OneDrive:
    • Photos:
      • Don’t upload
      • Good quality (may use data plan)
      • Best quality (needs Wi-Fi)
    • Video:
      • Don’t upload
      • Best quality (needs Wi-Fi)

Restore Personal Data:

  1. After restarting your device following the data backup, connect to a Wi-Fi network
  2. Follow the on-screen setup prompts
  3. At the “Restore phone” screen, ensure that “Windows Phone” is selected
  4. Tap “Next
  5. Wait for the phone to restore the data. This can take several minutes to complete
  6. When the data is restored 100% tap “Next” to reach the “Almost done…” screen
  7. Tap "Next” one last time and you should now be able to access your restored data
