Back Up Settings:
- Slide the Start screen left
- Tap “Settings” > “backup”
- Tap “app list + settings”
- Enable the “Settings backup” switch
- Sign in to your Microsoft account if necessary
- Tap “Back up now” > “continue” (NOTE: The backup process may take several minutes to complete, depending on the amount of data)
Back Up Applications:
- Wipe the Start screen left
- Scroll to and tap “Settings”
- Tap “backup” > “app list + settings”
- Tap the switch associated with “App backup” to enable the feature
- Sign in to your Microsoft account if necessary
- Tap “back up now” > “continue”
Back Up Text Messages:
- Swipe the Start screen left and go to “Settings”
- Tap “backup”
- Tap “text messages”
- Tap the “Text message backup” switch to enable the feature
Back Up Photos & Videos:
- Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
- Swipe to and tap “backup”
- Tap “photos + videos”
- Choose to automatically upload media files to OneDrive:
- Photos:
- Don’t upload
- Good quality (may use data plan)
- Best quality (needs Wi-Fi)
- Video:
- Don’t upload
- Best quality (needs Wi-Fi)

Restore Personal Data:
- After restarting your device following the data backup, connect to a Wi-Fi network
- Follow the on-screen setup prompts
- At the “Restore phone” screen, ensure that “Windows Phone” is selected
- Tap “Next”
- Wait for the phone to restore the data. This can take several minutes to complete
- When the data is restored 100% tap “Next” to reach the “Almost done…” screen
- Tap "Next” one last time and you should now be able to access your restored data
