Back Up Settings:
- Swipe left while viewing the Start screen
- Scroll to and tap “Settings”
- Tap “backup” > “app list + settings”
- Tap the “Settings backup” switch to enable the feature
- Sign in to your Microsoft account if necessary
- Tap “back up now” > “continue”. NOTE: The back up process may take several minutes to complete
Back Up Applications:
- Swipe the Start screen left or right
- Go to “Settings”
- Scroll to and tap “backup”
- Tap “app list + settings”
- Enable the “App backup" switch and if necessary, sign in to your Microsoft account
- Tap “Back up now” > “continue”
Back Up Text Messages:
- While on the Start screen, swipe left or right
- Tap “Settings” > “backup”
- Tap “text messages”
- Set the “Text message backup” to “ON”
Back Up Videos and Photos:
- Swipe the Start screen left or right
- Tap “Settings” > “backup”
- Tap “photos + videos”
- Set the desired option for automatically uploading media files to OneDrive:
- For Photos:
- “Don’t upload”
- “Good quality (may use data plan)”
- “Best quality (needs Wi-Fi)”
- For Videos:
- “Don’t upload”
- “Best quality (needs Wi-Fi)”
- For Photos:
Restore Data:
- Once you power up your phone following a backup, connect to a Wi-Fi network
- Follow the on-screen prompts
- In the “Restore phone” menu, make sure “Windows Phone” is selected
- Tap “Next” and wait for your phone to restore data. This may take several minutes to complete, depending on the amount of information being restored
- Once the process reaches “100%”, tap "Next”
- From the “Almost done…” screen, tap “Next” one more time and all the data should now be restored and accessible
