Back Up Settings:

  1. Swipe left while viewing the Start screen
  2. Scroll to and tap “Settings
  3. Tap “backup” > “app list + settings
  4. Tap the “Settings backup” switch to enable the feature
  5. Sign in to your Microsoft account if necessary
  6. Tap “back up now” > “continue”. NOTE: The back up process may take several minutes to complete

Back Up Applications:

  1. Swipe the Start screen left or right
  2. Go to “Settings
  3. Scroll to and tap “backup
  4. Tap “app list + settings
  5. Enable the “App backup" switch and if necessary, sign in to your Microsoft account
  6. Tap “Back up now” > “continue

Back Up Text Messages:

  1. While on the Start screen, swipe left or right
  2. Tap “Settings” > “backup
  3. Tap “text messages
  4. Set the “Text message backup” to “ON

Back Up Videos and Photos:

  1. Swipe the Start screen left or right
  2. Tap “Settings” > “backup
  3. Tap “photos + videos
  4. Set the desired option for automatically uploading media files to OneDrive:
    • For Photos:
      • Don’t upload
      • Good quality (may use data plan)
      • Best quality (needs Wi-Fi)
    • For Videos:
      • Don’t upload
      • Best quality (needs Wi-Fi)

Restore Data:

  1. Once you power up your phone following a backup, connect to a Wi-Fi network
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts
  3. In the “Restore phone” menu, make sure “Windows Phone” is selected
  4. Tap “Next” and wait for your phone to restore data. This may take several minutes to complete, depending on the amount of information being restored
  5. Once the process reaches “100%”, tap "Next
  6. From the “Almost done…” screen, tap “Next” one more time and all the data should now be restored and accessible
