Back Up App Data and Settings:
- On the Start screen, swipe left to “Apps”
- Scroll to and tap “Settings”
- Tap “Backup” > “app list + settings”
- Tap to enable the “Settings backup” and / or “App backup” switch depending on the type of data you want to back up
- If necessary, sign in to your Microsoft account
- Tap “back up now” > “continue” and wait for the process to complete (it may take several minutes)
Back Up Text Messages:
- On the Start screen, swipe left
- Open “Settings”
- Tap “backup” > “text messages”
- Tap to enable the “Text message backup” switch
Back Up Media Files:
- Swipe the Start screen left
- Access “Settings”
- Tap “Backup “ > “photos + videos”
- Select the desired option for backing up media files to OneDrive
- For photos you can choose to:
- Don’t upload
- Good quality (may use data plan)
- Best quality (needs Wi-Fi)
- For videos you can select to:
- Don’t upload
- Best quality (needs Wi-Fi)
Restore Data, Apps, Settings After a Factory Reset:
- After you reset your phone, connect to a Wi-Fi network
- Follow the on-screen prompts and once the “Restore phone” pop-up window appears, ensure that “Windows Phone” is selected
- Tap “Next” and the phone will restore the data
- Once the process reaches 100%, tap “Next”
- When the phone says “Almost done”, tap “Next” again
- Lastly, choose whether you want to join the Nokia Improvement Program or not, and tap “Next”
