Back Up Apps and Contacts:

  1. On the Start screen, tap “Settings
  2. Access “Update & Security” and tap “Backup
  3. Tap to enable “Back up content from participating apps

NOTE: All the contacts saved within the “People” application (participating app) will be backed up.

Back Up Media Files:

  1. On the Start screen, tap the “OneDrive” tile
  2. Tap “Menu” in the upper-left corner of the screen
  3. Access “Settings
  4. Tap “Camera upload” and make sure the option is enabled
  5. If necessary, select the desired account to use for syncing (backing up) your media files

Factory Reset

WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all the data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted, including ringtones, media files, contacts, apps, downloaded content etc. In addition, by factory resetting your phone, all settings will be restored to factory values.

NOTE: Data stored on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected by the factory reset.

Reset via Settings:

  1. On the Start screen, tap “Settings
  2. Access “System” and tap “About
  3. Tap “Reset your phone” and optionally, you can select to remove provisioned content from your workplace
  4. Tap “Yes” > “Yes
  5. Lastly, enter your Microsoft Live account’s password to proceed

Reset via Hardware Keys:

NOTE: In case you are unable to reset the phone via Settings using the method above, you can reset it by performing a combination of button presses, as follows:

  1. First, turn off the phone if necessary
  2. With the device turned off, press and hold “Power
  3. When the phone vibrates, release “Power” and quickly press and hold “Volume Down
  4. After an exclamation mark appears on the screen, release “Volume Down
  5. From the menu, perform the following button sequence in order:
    • Volume Up
    • Volume Down
    • Power
    • Volume Down
  6. After your phone finishes the reset process, it will restart automatically
