    Question: 3200 data format?

since you mentioned "questions", i might as well ask here:

i've been trying to figure out whether the 3200 supports only midi-ringtones or other formats as well.

obviously, i did too much research for my own good:

    http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/1,,1...0,00.html#3200 says "midi and AMR-clips".

sms.at offers midi- and mp3-tones for this model.

Nokia Germany and Nokia Austria say "polyphonic midi and monophonic ringtones ONLY".

    what am i to believe?!

basically - is it possible to use mp3/wav-files as ringtones on a 3200?

i'd just try it, but - i don't have a 3200 myself, so i thought i'd ask someone who does.

    thanks for your help!

    Nokia 3200 sound formats...

Nokia 3200 support these sound formats:

    - Old Monophonic Nokia Ringtones
    - Polyphonic SP-MIDI ringtones with 16-notes polyphony
    - AMR sound recording clips

    does NOT support:
    - MP3 files (ringtones)[No a MP3 player as enough memory too]
    - WAV files format

SP-MIDIs are MIDI files compatible & able to be played and used as ringtones in mobile phones. They have NOT all midi files the SP-MIDI proper format. To test or make a midi file a SP-MIDI file use your Nokia Suite (Sound Converter module). For creation and more functions on SP-MIDI files use Nokia Audio Suite v1.0.2 (from Nokia Forum). The last update (v1.0.2) supports the 16-notes polyphony of Nokia 3200.

AMR: is a sound compression format / technology that is the standard for sound recording in (new) mobile phones. Nokia 3200 produce AMR clips when you use its sound recorder. AMR sound format is also be used as the encoding technology when you recording video clips with a video recording enabled mobile phone. The video stream is be encoded with 3gpp video format and the sound stream is be encoded with AMR sound format.

I hope to helped a little...

Hey what does the SP stand for. Special Polyphonic?

PS: AMR is Adaptive MultiRate codec isn't it. I thought AMR was used in calls and not clips???
What you lookin' here for ehhh?

    Ello,
Well what would you consider the + - of the phone? Its one of the latest models from nokia. It has a camra, FM Radio, flashlight and comes with 3 holographic faceplate inserts. Its the third Nokia phone equiped with 'EDGE' datatrasnfer technology. It comes with printable photo inserts for your printer so you can do your own. Its a nice phone for the money. At&t currently has some promotions for the phone. $70 off witha two year contract.

It doesn't not have screensaver or voice dialing ablilty.

    It requires a datacable though.

Goto www.phonescoop.com and compair the phone with other phones. They have a cool system where you can see phones you want to compair side by side and has a break down of their features.

EDGE is the latest technology. It is for transmitting data to and from the phone. Personally I don't think you need to worry about this part.

EDGE is good for PC Cards that can go into laptop computers. With EDGE you can get speeds up to 16KBs or 128Kbs which is faster then regular Dial-Up internet.

    Cable Only for this phone.

Yes its comfortable. The buttons do look different from the traditional phone and that has some people going away from it, but I have sold a few to know that most people enjoy the different buttons and get alot of praise for their unique phone.

The buttons are fine,... may be quite flimsy at first but u'll get used to it,... i got 4 interchangeable holographic covers and not 3,... has a cam, EDGE, infrared, Flashlight, Voice recording...
etc. like wad celldealer said,... better pic editor than 7250i... and it's quite cheap (for a cam phone ) too....

    -
    Just over 1MB of memory,....
Thicker than 7250i,... although not many people will mind,...

Opps your right it does have Infrared. One thing about this phone that is really cool is it is a true international phone. Which means it pretty much works ANYWHERE in the world.

You got 4?? Do you have At&t or cingular? The AT&T version comes with two plus the generic At&T wireless hologram on the phone.

Also another cool thing is that the phone comes with background images to match the holograms so the entrie phone looks the same.
