I just noticed the other day that the backlight on my 6255i's keypad doesn't go out. Is this normal?? I'm not getting great battery life and thought this might be the cause. My old Kyocera can sit on the counter in my house for about a week without recharge and the 6255i only seems to manage 2 days. It shows a full digital signal and bluetooth is diabled, but as I mentioned above, the keypad backlight is still on an hour after closing the phone.

Did you somehow mess with the display settings?

no. I'm not sure there are any keypad backlight settings to mess with, didn't see any anyways. I think it has been this way since I got it (about 3 wks ago) and I just noticed it a couple days ago when I picked my phone up while it was relatively dark in the room. I could see the keypad backlight glowing. Since then I've checked on several occassions and sure enough, it never goes out. This can't be normal and would explain why battery life has been less than impressive. I'm going to take it back when I get home in a couple days and see if I can get a new one. Other than that, I love the phone. Have a 512Mb MMC card sitting at home waiting for me

ok ok....(think think) Well i'm not gonna say your wrong cause you could be dead-on with your answer, but i've had 4 cell phones in the past and all of them had display(backlight) options. Some where you could change how long it would be on and some where you can just turn it on and off but have someone else look for you. If the problem persist, try getting in contact with phone manufacturer OR find a guide for the phone.

I know exactly what you mean. I've searched the menu's 6 or 7 times and the only setting I can find that mentions anything about lights is in the charger section and you can set the lights to be always on or automatic (shuts of after several seconds). It's on automatic. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else's 6255i keypad backlight was the same way. I'm going to head back to the store tonight (might be too late today though) and see what they say. If they can figure out how to turn it off or show me that they are all that way fine, otherwise I'm going to have them replace it.

I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

    Well,
They're sending it in for repair. Gave me a new phone until mine gets fixed.

The replacement phone definitely has much better battery life. I used it off and on all day yesterday and now today it's still showing 4 bars on the battery. The old one would have been half gone by this morning. Now I am extremely happy with the 6255i ... awesome phone oh ya, got my 512Mb MMC card the other day also
