I'm wondering if when you put mp3s on the phone with a micro sd card, that if you can use the full mp3s as your ring tones. Thanks
Josh

Re: nokia 6133 ringtone question
I too just got a 6133, and the CA53 (USB) cable. Uploaded an MP3 to the phone in the ringtone folder, selected that file for ringtone, and got an error message saying "that file can't be used". I can listen to the file on the phone, so it's not corrupt.
Uploaded a midi file to the same folder, no problem with that one being set as a ringtone. I see nothing online or in the manual of the phone that says how to set ringtones, especially MP3's.
Once (if) we get this figured out it shouldn't matter if it's coming from the phone memory or an SD card.
I suspect that file size might be the culprit here, or it's just unsupported because they want you to download the tones from your provider.
I'm assuming people having this problem are familiar with how to upload data to the phone...Last edited by dyeager535; 02-03-2007 at 05:16 PM.

Re: nokia 6133 ringtone question
Did my research, worked around the issue.
Going to quote a review first:
"As I said above, this phone doesn't play mp3 ringtones. That is both true and false at the same time. This phone will play mp3's as ringtones ONLY if they are signed by T-Mobile, meaning if you like paying for your ringtones from your phone carrier then it will play them as ringtones. If you are like me and want to you your own mp3 collection as ringtones then this phone wont play them. It will NOT play them as mp3's, YOU WILL HAVE TO CONVERT THEM TO WMA files in order to them music files are ringtones. To some people that is a lot to ask for, but for me its just a small price to pay in order to get things the way I WANT."
(from Nokia 6133 - Features, Specs, and User Reviews - Mobiledia
So I took that tidbit and ran with it. Downloaded dbpoweramp (dBpoweramp Music Converter) and installed it. Updated it to the windows media player 10 spec (it asks when you try and convert to WMA format) and converted my MP3 to WMA. Multiple times until I got it to a size that was small enough to use without an SD card (on its way!) but large enough for decent quality.
After converting the file to WMA and uploading it to the phone, I was able to use the ringtone.
Hope this helps.

Re: nokia 6133 ringtone question
Holly **** dyeager535! you truely are a genious, i just got the 6133 today and was about to dump it on ebay since it did not allow me to play my mp3 ringtones that i made, i.e. the whole bull**** about t-mobile makes you buy mp3s to play them as ringers, well i did what you said, the converter and updated and sure enough, works like a charm! How did you think of that! you are a good man, if you were a chick i would make love to you have have babies with you! well done my man!

Re: nokia 6133 ringtone question
Dont mess with the compression, wmas are already better quality then mp3, just do exacally what the steps say and use the program, dont change any settings. The point is t-mobile only informed nokia to hard lock .mp3 file extensions which in turn does not allow you to select your own made mp3s as ringtones. Good thing they forgot about WMA!
