e61i cannot be recognized. I need help

Hello guys. I have my e61i that I bought 3 years ago. The screen on it sopped working a month ago. it turns on, and the screen and the keys light up for a fraction of a second, but that's it. I downloaded the PC Suite, and connected the USB, and for hours the phone is not recognized. I have tried pressing the buttons I remember seeing when it was still working, but the phone will not install. Is there any brute force tactic I can use to get in? I need to get my contacts and files.
