help me unlock my Nokia-C5 touchscreen

my sister-in-law got an upgrade from tmobile and gave me her nokia c5 touchscreen. I'm with 3 network so wanted to unlock the phone to use my own sim. my brother contacted tmobile and after a month (!) they sent him the unlock code. I have tried it with no sim and also with my 3 sim and both times its saying "code error"-I'm about ready to throw it off a wall-can anyone help!!!
