This is driving me MAD! I used to have hair and fingernails too and my dog is fed up withy being kicked!

OK, so it’s my fault that I soaked my pld phone in “Vanish” for six hours and it won’t work now! Yes, I should have checked my pockets! But NO ONE should suffer like this!

I have had two old, cheap-and-nasty Nokia phones, both of which connected to my Range Rover Sport by Bluetooth and both of which had an option to “Connect Automatically” which, when selected, meant that all I had to do was open my car with the phone nearby and it would connect automatically – “what it says on the tin”.

My new phone (bought because I soaked the old one, remember?) is a Nokia Asha 203. It also has a “Connect Automatically” option on it but, AND THIS IS WHERE IT GETS ANNOYING – the wretched thing doesn’t make a blind bit of difference! Selected or not, it STILL wants me to accept the pairing and input the code!!!

I have tried everything! Pairing it with my car, then connecting, then selecting the automatic feature/pairing it, selecting automatic, THEN connecting it/Selecting automatic, then pairing it, THEN connecting it and every other variation possible but no joy!

I have been in touch with Land Rover who were as (un)helpful as you could imagine, saying it was down to the phone, with Phones 4U who were very, very helpful but could not suggest anything else I could try, a Nokia “Care Centre” (HA!) who didn’t have a clue and Nokia themselves who, very kindly, said the Auto Connect function SHOULD work, gave me a code for a soft reboot of my phone (didn’t make any difference) and then said that it must be “old stock” and I would need to download updates for the phone. I explained I had only just bought the wretched thing but they said it might have been in stock for months! I then said that if the phone didn’t have the software needed to connect automatically, why was it showing that as an option? They didn’t have an answer to that!

I connected to Nokia Suite and found that my phone didn’t need ANY updates! Nokia then said I should try reinstalling the software on it and promised that would do the trick! I reinstalled the software and, guess what? IT DIDN’T WORK!!!

Can anyone PLEEEEESE tell me what I’m doing wrong? I just want this 203 to do what both my other Nokia’s did and connect to my car automatically when I select that option on the flippin’ thing!

If you can solve this for me, my barber and my dog would thank you from the bottom of their hearts…………….?
