I need your help! I'm desperate, I've been through hell, I know, sounds crazy but true I have a 7-year-old Nokia E51 and had all my data on internal phone memory. I was planning to buy a HTC One Mini these days to finally upgrade to a new phone, but a disaster happened. The most important part of my old phone were contacts, which are now gone. I cannot tell you how dumb I was when I upgraded my phone firmware without backing up the data. But, before the upgrade, i opened a Nokia PC Suite and I saw all my contacts there and I was really happy and thought that the contacts were actually saved, but I was wrong. The moment my phone turned on, I saw a changed user interface and stuff and I went fast to contacts and saw that all of my 1500+ contacts were deleted. Then I went to Nokia PC Suite to check if my contacts remained there. And, guess what, I saw them all, yeeiii, but only for a second or so, then they all disappeared. It was not long till I realised that Nokia PC Suite creates a temporary database to temporarily store contacts, SMS, MMS and so on, but the moment my E51 with upgraded firmware turned on, the Nokia PC Suite read the data from the new "empty" phone and displayed no data. Then I tried using recovery software to try to read the database that Nokia PC Suite created for contacts, but the database was empty, even when read as raw. That was the moment I realised that the only way to restore my lost contacts is to somehow recover the phone internal memory. But, any type of recovery software I've used cannot detect the phone internal memory, only the computer hard drives. But, I've read the post here "h t tp: //w w w.all abouts ymb ian.co m/f oru m...d.ph p?t=10 03 3 6" (delete all spaces in the link) which says that it's actually possible to access the internal memory and restore contacts, SMS, calendar files...
I beg you to help me try to access the phone internal memory and recover deleted contacts. I'm so desperate, I'm also dumb and stupid for not doing the back-up, but the Nokia PC Suite made me think I had a back-up when it showed my contacts in the software. I can't believe there were no warnings to back-up or anything, Nokia PC Suite just told me to upgrade my phone firmware so I can use the Nokia Communication Center to see my contacts. But, as I've said, after upgrading, all my contacts were lost and Nokia PC Suite also lost the contacts and my only and last hope is to try to find the contacts on my phone internal memory (I don't have an SD card, so, everything was on phone internal memory).
I hope you read the whole text and understood what's going on. Thanks for any kind of help and support. I'll appreciate it very much, extremely much.
Thanks again! If you have any questions regarding the situation, feel free to send me numerous messages, millions, don't worry, I'll read them all and try to make you understand what happened to me.
Thankssss!!!!!!!!

So you never even synced the phone with pc suite?
Edit: Look in C:\Users\*main user*\AppData\Roaming\PC Suite\*numbers*\ (*numbers* should be the most recent folder) for PCCSContacts.db Open the file in notepad and see if anything is in there. If there is, download and run this: http://sourceforge.net/projects/noknokwhosthere/

The problem is, when I connected the phone before the firmware upgrade, I got all the contacts listed in PC Suite, but, when I upgraded the phone, the contacts in the phone disappeared, then I looked in the PC Suite, they also disappeared after a sec or two. I also checked NokNok and it says that database is empty, tried scanning with raw file, it doesn't give anything. I thought the only way to recover the contacts would be through phone internal memory...

If only I didn't connect the phone after the upgrade, it would all be good and I could have retrieved my contacts with that method, but the PC Suite asked to reconnect the phone. If only I knew then...

Is there a way that PC Suite created an automatic backup somewhere before the actual firmware software upgrade?

I've tried that, NokNok says the database is empty, tries to scan it as raw, still it extracts 0 files.

Yeah, that's my only hope, but I haven't found such program yet. Everything I've tried can't find the phone memory, only internal hard drives of my computer. Can you help me find it please?

The problem is you can't view the files system of the phone via usb without doing some light hacking on the phone. Those file recovery programs need to see the phone as a storage device.

Have you tried connecting your (old)phone to a computer? You should be able to get your contacts from in the phone and transfer them to your computer, then hook up the new phone (to computer) and transfer the "contacts file" to your new phone.

Try what I said above - that's the only way to check.
