Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Device”
- Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- In the Notification area, drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open “Settings” for more options
- Go to “Display”
- Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
- For timeout options, go to “Sleep” and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Change Account Settings to Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Accounts”
- Select the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life when not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps from the device, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Access “Settings”
- Go to “Apps” and ensure you are viewing “All apps”
- Select the desired application
- Tap “Force Stop” or “Disable”
- To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable your phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, to improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features off
- Launch “Settings” and go to “Location” for GPS settings
- Then tap “mode” and select “Battery saving”
- To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Tethering & mobile hotspot” and turn the feature Off
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have the possibility to recharge it, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Go to “Mobile networks” > “preferred network type”
- Turn “2G” ON
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Open “Settings”
- Scroll to and tap “About phone” > “System updates”
- Verify if new updates are available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the update (the update process will require to reboot the phone at least once)
