Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If an app causes problems or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try solving these problems by clearing the app cache or data. WARNING: when you clear an app’s data, all of your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, such as custom settings, save files, login data etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app cache:

  1. Swipe up on the home screen from the bottom
  2. Open “Settings
  3. Access “Apps & Notifications
  4. Ensure you view All Apps
  5. Select the desired app and tap “Storage
  6. Tap “Clear cache
  7. If clearing the app cache didn’t solve the problems, tap “Clear data” (check the warning above)

Reset Network and App Settings, Factory Reset:

NOTE: Ensure you’ve backed up all of your data before factory resetting the device.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to and go to “System
  3. Tap “Reset options
  4. To reset network app settings, tap “Reset app preferences” > “Reset apps
  5. To reset network settings, tap “Reset Wi-Fi, Mobile & Bluetooth” and then tap “Reset settings” two times
  6. To factory reset the phone, tap “Erase all data (factory reset)” > “Reset phone” > “Erase everything

Remove apps in Safe Mode:

NOTE: if a third-party app causes problems and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Press and hold “Power” on the home screen
  2. In the power management pop-up, tap and hold “Power off
  3. Wait for the phone to reboot and you should see a “Safe Mode” watermark on the home screen
  4. To uninstall an app, first launch “Settings
  5. Go to “Apps & Notifications” and switch to “All apps” if needed
  6. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK
  7. To exit Safe Mode, reboot your device normally
