Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open “Settings”
- Scroll to “Device”
- Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- For more options go to “Settings”
- Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
- Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
- Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value like “15 seconds”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
- Open “Settings”
- For GPS options, go to “Location”
- Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
- To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the features
Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Go to “Mobile networks” > “preferred network type”
- Enable “2G”
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
- Ensure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
- Select the desired application
- To disable the app, tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
- To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”
Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can change your accounts’ sync settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.
- Open “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal”
- Tap “Accounts”
- Select an account type and account
- Change the account’s syncing options to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to “About phone”
- Tap “System updates”
- Check if a new update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process (NOTE: the update will require at least one reboot)
