Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen
- For additional options go to “Settings”
- Access “Display”
- Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
- For timeout settings, tap “Sleep”
- Select a lower timeout duration such as “15 seconds”
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open “Settings”
- Scroll to and tap “Battery”
- Tap “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS when not actively in use, you can avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable these features
- Open “Settings” for more options
- Access “Location” and tap “Mode”
- Enable “Battery saving”
- For hotspot options, go back to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the feature OFF
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve the battery until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Go to “Mobile networks”
- Tap “Preferred network type”
- Enable “2G”
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts’ settings to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Accounts”
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the device, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “Apps” and make sure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
- Select the desired application
- To turn the app off, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
- To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the device up to date. To verify if new updates are available:
- Launch “Settings”
- Go to “About phone”
- Access “System updates”
- Check if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
