Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Go to “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness
  5. Tap “Sleep” for timeout options and select a lower value like “15 seconds

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Battery
  3. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, when not actively in use, you can avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially conserve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings” for additional options
  4. Go to “Location” and tap “mode” then enable “Battery saving
  5. For hotspot options, go to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Go to “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type
  4. Enable “2G

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: you can change your accounts’ settings to reduce the amount of data synced by your accounts and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Go to “Accounts
  3. Select an account type and the account you want to use for contact syncing
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life in the long run, even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus you an disable or remove unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to “Apps” and switch to “All apps” from the drop-down menu
  3. Select the desired app
  4. To disable the app, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop
  5. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can provide battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Access “About phone
  3. Tap “System updates” and check if a new update is available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to apply the update (the process will require you to reboot the device at least once)
