Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease screen luminosity
- Launch “Settings” and go to “Display”
- Optionally, you can enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
- Tap “Sleep” for timeout options and select a lower value
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Battery”
- Tap “Menu”
- Enable “Battery saver”
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use – including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS – to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
- Open “Settings” and go to “Location”
- Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
- For hotspot options, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
- Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the feature Off
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch “Settings”
- Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
- Go to “Mobile network”
- Tap “Preferred network type”
- Enable “2G”
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Accounts”
- Select an account type
- Tap the desired account and change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Apps” and if necessary, switch to “All apps” from the drop-down menu
- Select the desired application
- To disable the app, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
- To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for OS updates:
- Open “Settings”
- Access “About phone” > “System updates”
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the available update (the update process will require at least one reboot)
