    Any advice would be great.

I switched to Cingular from AT&T and brought over my Nokia 3650 after
unlocking. Upon switching I got a free phone but its long gone - I gave it
to a friend. So now my 3650 isn't working - seems like the mic, everyone on
the other end just hears silence. I'm way out of warranty (not to mention I
unlocked it) and I'm in the middle of a 2-yr Cingular contract and not
eligible for an upgrade. Cingular doesn't seem to be setup to handle people
in this situation. All sales are geared towards new contracts and upgrades.
A web sales rep said go to a store. A store guy said go to the web.

Any suggestions on a phone for a big 3650 fan?
Any suggestions on the best way to buy a phone? - through nokiausa.com?

    thanks

    Advice:

    1. NEVER, EVER sign up for a 2-year contract. The $50 you save is
    never worth it IMHO.
    2. If you ignore the above, then get phone insurance.

Cingular sells phone at "no commitment" prices, which are typically
$100 more than their 2-year commitment prices. Also, you can get a
new phone at a subsidized rate if you extend your contract.

Get a 6682 if you can afford it.

NOKIAUSA is a good bet. Avoid online auctions, especially EG^HBAY.

Could also be something to do with the mute - are you sure that's not the
problem? I assume you've tried power cycling?

That phone may no longer be sold, so if you want the same one, you may need
to try eBay or Craig's list. I saw one on ebat for a buy it now price for
under $100 (AT&T version, I think). You can often unlock Nokia's yourself
with a code that you can get free.

As always, YMMV: I've had very good results buying phones on eBay.

YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary, the caveat on EPA gas mileage ratings.
