See the FAQ below, and also the newsgroup alt.cellular.motorola

No.

Why not? Read Cingular stores should be able to help you get data working.
Or call Customer Care, and ask to have data settings "pushed" to your phone.

Here is the link that will walk you through step by step on how to
configure your browser. However you will NOT get the media net service
but you will be able to access other WAP sites by typing in the URL in
the browser. I would suggest once you have the correct settings you
load the mini opera browser. It runs as a java app in your
games/application section but it is a much better browser than the
media net. I have Opera on my cingular branded razr and also on my
wife's unlocked unbranded pink razr. Once you are on line go to
mini.opera.com and it will automatically download and install. you can
also go to www.mini.opera.com from your computer to check out more info
on it.

A note to this thread about Corporate Owned stores....
My understanding is that the retail stores are sales locations only and that
if you go in to a store and ask for anything other than a sales related
question they will hand you a phone and call customer care. Of course I
have not verified this by actually going to a retail-corporate store. And
who knows about dealers. I would think that the dealers want to offer more
services to get the additional traffic into them, but this is a W.A.G.

What you want to do is go back into the store and have them reset your web browser settings , in other words take the web browser off and reinstall it, they do this on their computers, they don't have to touch your phone to do this, then power your phone off and back on, wait for the text message from cingular and away you go, your browser will be working again

I have (in San Ramon, California), and they have been happy to help get things
working properly.

Take the WAP (not web browser) off and reinstall it? Not possible without
flashing the phone. All that's really needed is to have the proper settings
"pushed" to your phone (by means of a special message).

Opera is great, but the Web is much harder to use than services specifically
designed for small screen WAP. A good example is Google Mobile
<http://mobile.google.com/>, particularly the personalized version
<http://mobile.google.com/personalized/>.

John, would a process similar to this also perhaps be needed in
order for me to be able to send/recieve eMail from my phone?
I've been backwards & forwards through that manual and the settings,
and can't seem to address just what needs to be done in order to get
eMail to work (to send a picture, for instance). That leads me to
think that there's some magical, external input that needs to be
done...

Not by Cingular, which only supports email by means of WAP. To use an email
client in your phone you'll need to configure it manually, or find a
configuration service (like Sony Ericsson's Configurator) that can generate
and send the necessary special message to your phone.

Can you send email at all? See the FAQ below for names of Cingular SMTP
servers that can be used for your outgoing mail.
