Is it in general possible for a computer email to be sent to show up as
a textmessage? Do you need some extra-few-dollars-a-month service for
that? (phone-to-phone text messaging works fine) If there is a way,
is there a way to disallow all incoming textmessages from computers
unless they come from a restricted sender list, or have a magic password,
or some other way of avoid text message spam?

Re: email -> text message?
I don't see why you can't use the message forwarding feature of your email
package to do that. For example, in Outlook you can set up message
forwarding to send messages to the same address you use for text messaging.
I'm not sure what it will do with HTML formatted messages or messages with
attachments.

Does Outlook Express have this same feature?

Re: email -> text message?
Brian,
I think so. Look under Tools | Message Rules | Mail.
