Just had my phone upgraded from R1 what ever it was, to R4D001, by SBE in
Ashford.
Anyone else had their's upgraded to this and noticed any difference.
I was hoping that the stupid Increasing ring feature might start working and
i would be able to turn it off.
been playing with the phone since i got it back and there is now change at
all.
Still slow, quiet and crap.
I took it back and told them that nothing has changed and was told that
nothing would.......
so what was the piont of upgrade.....?????
OH..no...i tell a lie....i now have a blue battery indicator, instead of a
red one.....WOW.

From what I understand, the firmware update has some minor bug fixes,
improved speed (esp in Java) and some improvements in the camera when
used in dark situations. Earlier updates that are rolled up into the R4
release included easier texting, jpg size improvements, faster java,
better quality pictures etc.
Nothing earth shattering, but the change from R1 to R4 does improve the
stability of the phone overall.
The few things I would like to see in a firmware upgrade?
* Customisable sms tones.
* Ability to add a sender of an sms to the phonebook from the sms
directly.
* improved ringing when a new call comes in
* fix up the bluetooth earpiece volume reduction issue (when phone
communicates over bluetooth it appears to reduce the earpiece volume to
the lowest setting.
I'm sure there are more

R4D apparently introduces an sms tone when new email arrives.
Not exactly a ring tone, but an improvement.

I remember when people were getting their 610's upgraded to R3 and they were
saying, what an improvement it was, but there does not seem to be any
improvement to me, with R4.
There is no diff in pic quality.....no diff in texting and deff no diff in
ringtone.........it still starts off quiet, evern thow i have it set to off.
I see SEBBY replyed to my original post with a ' ? '.....so maybe the
battery indicator was already blue, i cannot remember.....been a while since
i last used it (find the Samsung E700 20X better, for what i do with
it).....but if that is the case, then there is nothing changed on
it..........just seems silly that SBE will now charge SE 2 hours labour for
nothing.

I'm just wondering what battery indicator you're talking about. I've got
R3C.

Re: T610 R4D firmware
I thought it was not blue.
Well now, with the R4D firmware it is blue when charged, not sure what
colour it goes when run down as it has not got that flat yet.

If they are an official SE service centre they should upgrade your
firmware for free under warranty. If they charged you, you have been
ripped off! :-(
