Don't talk such rubbish, you should know better by now. Do NOT under any
circumstances use a Philips or small slot-head driver, you WILL damage the
screws. Get a decent T6, and as with any tool, you get what you pay for.

Exactly how many pounds of pressure do you plan on applying to a cell phone
screw?

I believe that he for whom resistance is futile is suggesting that after
removal the Torx screws or bolts - whatever the word is - are replaced with
more robust screws or bolts of a different design, NOT that the wrong tool
is used.
Certainly, that matches with my experience that about 1 in 3 Torx things are
fubared after removal. Perhaps its a deliberate ploy by phone makers to
avoid us tampering with our phones, who knows??????

Possibly, but that's not the way I read it.

How much pressure are you applying? I take phones apart every day, and I
can't remember the last time I damaged a Torx screw. Perhaps you are using
a cheap and nasty driver, the driver head is worn etc.

Its NOT a T6 driver as I've got 1 and it dosent fit. The driver head is too
small for the screw. What is the next bigger size driver, T5 or T7?? Anyone
know where they sell a cheap torx set??
Thanks again,

6 and 8 are the most common sizes I have seen for torx in general. I once
bought a really good screwdriver set special order from Radio Shack, but as
always their online search system sucks ass and I can't find it. Under
their screwdriver section online they list ONE item. WTF?
I also once found this set for $8 somewhere, but it's almost worth $20:

OK, go to amazon.com, search for torx, then select the link for results from
tools, sort by cheapest first, and they have tons of individual bits for $1
or less.

Cheers for that. I would order just the 1 driver if I knew what size, hence
my original post. If I find out, I'll order 1 from amazon.
