i bought the new p900 but the battery charged for only 2.5 hours .Is
this normal?
i left the charger ON even if the green scrolling battery icon had
stopped scrolling .
Top right led was red during the 2.5 hrs of charging and then after
changed to green.
does this happen only for the first time the battery is charged?
the manual stated an approx 4 hrs charging time.....
can someone give an advice.....

Charging takes about 2 hours. It's normal the led turns from red
(=charging) to green (=full).
By "4 hours" in the manual they mean: the first time charging. It is
allright to charge for 4 hours (even if the led is red). I heard it is
even better to charge for 10 hours the first time (s).
In the future it doesn't matter how long you charge (or when) even with a
green led. The battery has no "memory". So you can charge at "half-full"
and you can't "kill" it by "over-charging".
only nokia batteries explode ;-)

The first time you buy a machine (laptop, mouse, cellular...) you must
charge for at least 10 h the first time. Then let it drain normally. Again
charge it. Drain it. Charge. Drain. Now charge normally and your battery
will have its full capacity and will last longer!
Most people don't do this, because they want to play with their new toy
immediately and then the battery breaks very fast.
And it is true. I didn't do this with my T610's first battery and it was
dead after 3 months. Now used that trick and my battery is very good (a lot
longer then the first one!) and is still working after 7 months.
Kind regards,

Re: new p900
It'll take a few charges for the battery to reach is maximum capacity. When
my P900 was new the battery only just lasted long enough for one day's use
after an overnight charge. Now it's a couple of months old it runs for two
days without a problem. Just keep using it.

The initial charge should, if anything, run for much longer than normal.
It has been argued as to whether or not this is necessary with all batteries
at various times, but regardless of the battery type in question a new
battery will tend to show a full charge around the standard charging time
(maybe even faster in some cases) even if it still requires several more
hours for the initial charge.
Anyway, the point is that a full reading on the battery meter is no
guarantee of a full battery, especially on the first charge. If you were
planning on leaving it charging extra long the first time, don't let an
inaccurate thing like a full battery meter change your mind.
