K700i Bluetooth

Hi

I'm using a SE K700i and trying to connect through Bluetooth. Using the
software that came with my USB dongle I can connect to the phone fine,
sending and receiving. Trouble is the software is a bit crap so I'm trying
to use some decent manager software, such as MobileEdit. But when using
other software, even the official software from Sony Ericsson I cannot
connect my mobile.

What software do you guys use?

You know what - I get exactly the same problem. The Sony stuff doesnt
work, but the third party stuff does! Using XPs bluetooth
implementation, it can see the phone and stuff, but sonys software
doesnt think the K700 is connected. Ive given up to be honest, I can
transfer media, other than the phonebook, which was initally a right
pain, as I have loads of contacts in CSV format. I also got phone
tools from a motorola phone, but it doesnt like the sony (maybe no
suprise - incompatible?)

Look into your BT software, and find out which COM-port is used for
communicating with the phone. Enable this COM-port in Mobile Phone
Monitor in Control Panel.

Thats great. The sony software works! Thanks.

The lousy single piece of paper that came with the bluetooth dongle
didnt mention any of this! Just how do they expect people to know such
things!

It's more of a Sony Ericsson problem than a Bluetooth stack problem.

I have all my COM ports enabled and it still doesn't want to know

I had that problem initially with my Belkin dongle. When I matched just the
*Client* port from the BT stack to SE's s/w, reserved it then disabled the
rest, it worked fine.

The Sony Ericsson software design is pretty lame. I've tossed both the
Bluetooth stack that came with my Belkin dongle and the Sony Ericsson
software. Instead I use the Bluetooth stack in Windows XP SP2 (which is much
more tight and robust) and floAt's Mobile Agent (which is much smarter at
finding the phone than Sony Ericsson, and much more capable to boot). The
only disappointment with that approach is that the Microsoft Bluetooth stack
doesn't support the audio/headset profile, so I can't use a Bluetooth headset
with my computer, but I think that's a small price to pay for rock solid and
trouble free operation.

have you guys had a problem connecting your bluetooth headset to your k700i....my friend just gave me his and he told me it worked on his, but my phone is not connecting with it

I have no problem connecting my K700i with bluetooth headset. I also can
connect to my PC
