    Hello,

I intend to get a new phone soon. My P800 has been a major letdown in
many ways. The synchronisation with my Mac via iSync is infuriating,
I've been through more than five replacement units due to various
quality problems (random crashing, dim backlight, faulty speaker, faulty
screen, faulty jogdial, faulty AC connector, phone would not turn on
etc.) and while my current one has been more or less stable for a good
amount of time, it now starts to act up. The problem is that I do not
want to miss the functionality. Therefore I would like to know whether
    the current P910i

    -> crahes randomly
    -> syncs well with OSX
-> has any known design faults
-> gets as slow as the P800 over time, especially when editing in the
    calendar
-> has any other abhorrent features one should be aware of.

Basically I am searching for P910i owners who had a P800 before so they
are qualified to compare. I am not searching for general SE praise.

My P910i has been rock solid since day one. I am also an ex P800 user and
that did get the yellow triangle of death from time too time. So far (5
months) my P910i has not crashed once.

I am a Windows user so I don't know. Try searching at Esato
(http://www.esato.com); I have seen iSync mentioned in a few topics there.

    > -> has any known design faults

    None that I have found.

It takes longer to boot up but once it has got going everything runs fine.
I have not noticed the calender slowing down.

Again, none that I am aware of.

It seems to be a bit of hit&miss. Most people say the P910i syncs fine
    though.

Does the shell still start to squeak after a while?

Oh, that is nice to hear. Entering a new appointment on my P800 takes ages.

    Quite, thanks!

Mine squeaks but I think that is because it fell off the passenger seat of
my car at flew into the foot well. I don't remember it squeaking before
    but it does now.

Perhaps because you have old entries that you haven't cleared out yet? Try
clearing the entries before today's date and see if that helps.

Cleaning out the old entries does accelerate access to the calendar and
switching bewteen the day/week/month views. What it does not accelerate
is the time it takes from the appointment editing screen back to the
day/week/month view. I also think it's quite pathetic for a device with
such oddles of memory (and even if by today's standards the P800 is not
memory-rich, it *does* pack a lot of memory from a realistic
perspective) to be slowed down by a handful of appointments. One should
be able to *keep* one's appointments.
