Has anyone noticed little niggly faults on the k700i, like when it
fails to recognise a phone number that's in the address book, or reads
    one number as another?

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving
safely in an attractive and well preserved body but rather to skid in
sideways, chocolate in one hand, Southern Comfort & Coke in the other hand,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming...

Yes I get this on 033a
I found that removing / adding the +44 country code (I'm in the UK)
fixed the one with the problem, but another one then failed

Factory re-set helps a bit, but themes and ring tones get trashed
    (factroy provided ones!)

    DPat :-(

    I haven't a clue, how would I tell that?

Yes, I found the removal of the +44 code fixed the problem... but not
for long. It's almost as if it goes through stages of recognising
    that prefix.

I've had another fault whereby I've dialled one number from my address
book and when I've come to redial from the "Calls" menu, it's there
under a different ID... How that happens is beyond me...

Where * is the star button and <> are joystick directions. When the
secret menu comes up look for software info. Mine is R2AE033. I have a
feeling that you may have directed your phone to look at the sim rather
than the address book. Have a play with those settings.
I have never had the problems described :O)

That's a handy little trick that I wasn't aware of...

What's the current level that I should have and how do I update?

R2AE033. Try the online update service at
    http://www.sonyericsson.com/updatese...0/frameset.htm

You'll need a synchstation (dss-20 or 25) which are vailable quite cheap
    on ebay.

Alternatively, read the forums at esato.com or mobile9.com. There is
some good gen there. Of course, if you live near a service centre you
can take it in and get it done free of charge.
I have done mine a couple of times using a credit and cable from
faceoffmobiles.com. It's quite involved for a non techie though.

Cheers. I've saved this message on the PC for later. I haven't got
Internet at home at the moment due to a fault with Freeserve, so I'm
having to download everything at work and do it all that way.

I'll have a look for the relevant equipment and have a little play.
I've already downloaded all the files that I want off the phone, so
I'm not too fussed if I do bugger it up...
